Seagram – Straight Mobbin’

Seagram was the first West Coast artist signed to Houston based, Rap A Lot Records. “Straight Mobbin” was the first track on his debut album The Dark Roads, released in 1992. In the same vein of label cohorts the Geto Boys and Ganksta N-I-P, Seagram’s album was dark and categorized as horrorcore.

I was listening to some 90’s Bay Area albums and came across the creative “Straight Mobbin. Almost entirely composed of “izzle,” It’s confusing to listen to, but Rap Genius has the translation to the first two verses if you want to attempt to follow along.

Seagram was gunned down in Oakland in 1996.

Another Seagram track worth checking out…
