Serve This Royalty

“If it don’t touch my soul then I can’t listen to it…”
– Big K.R.I.T. on “The Vent”

That quote from his 2011 track sums up my “qualifications” when I hear a song. If it evokes some type of emotion, then I can vibe with it. Whether, it forces me to make the ugly face or sit silently and think, it has to touch my soul in some way.

“Serve This Royalty” from his new mixtape, King Remembered In Time, heavily samples a song by the same title by Cody Chesnutt. Both are soulful numbers that leave you listening intetly to the lyrics and message. If Chesnutt’s song piqued your interest, he made a return a few months ago with his new album Landing On A Hundred, which is well worth the $10.
