It’s been a couple years since the last Closed Sessions compilation came out and I had no clue a new one was dropping. It wasn’t even on my radar. While I didn’t post Vol. 1 in its entirety, I did post a couple songs (Rapper Weed & Helluva Year) from it. The concept is simple, artists from Chicago (home to the Closed Sessions label) and around the country hit Soundscape Studios and lay down some songs. A few of of these are collabs that wouldn’t have happened due to budget, schedule conflict, and miscellaneous music politics. With a lot of music being made by sending verses and beats through emails it’s dope to see artists and producers in the studio bouncing ideas off each other to make a song. This compilation features a number of artists I’ve posted about before, namely Blu, Outasight, Naledge, and Freddie Gibbs.
Closed Sessions Vol. 2 is definitely worth the 50 minutes of your listening time.
Standout Tracks: Good For Me, Comfy In the Truck, Dear Heather
