D’Angelo – Spanish Joint
Sunday has different purposes for different people, for religious people it’s the Sabbath, for club going folks it’s recovery day, and for sports fans it’s the day to sit on the couch all day and watch football. Sometimes people find a way to be a part of all three groups, but more often than not Sunday is a day just to chill and gear up for the work week.
But what’s a laid-back day without music?
It’s been 11 years since D’Angelo released a studio album. Brown Sugar (1995) and Voodoo (2000) are heralded as two of the best albums released in the past two decades. Legal troubles and other personal issues have stymied release dates of his third album, but Questlove said his new album is in the “home-stretch,” so hopefully we’ll hear some new music from him in the next few months. Let “Spanish Joint,” from his second album, Voodoo, set the mood for your Sunday and lead you into a productive workweek.
