Odd Spring

When you type in “seeing sounds” on Google, 177,000 results come up. The first is the the 2008 N.E.R.D. album and the second is synesthesia. The second result is what I was looking for, a term to describe the visual senses evoked when you hear something so wonderful that words can’t describe them.
Synesthesia is a neurologically-based condition in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway.

There are lots of sounds that stimulate vivid images, but in this case Odd Spring by Low Budget Crew member Oddisee fits the bill perfectly. Released in May 2010, this was the last installment of EP’s that corresponded with each season. Each one had me seeing sounds. Odd Spring featured original songs by the DMV rapper/producer and a couple instrumentals from (what were) upcoming projects. We’re in the middle of the spring, so Odd Spring is one of the soundtracks of the season.
