Curtain Call

On Saturday I got a chance to cross off an event on my “hip-hop bucket list”. I saw one of my favorite groups, Little Brother, perform at Cat’s Cradle in Chapel Hill, NC. Rapper Pooh and Phonte were on stage for nearly two hours and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing them go through songs from all four studio albums and a few non-album cuts as well. What I saw may have well been their last performance in the area that birthed the group some 10 years ago.

Personally, the “common man rap” from Pooh and Tay always left me feeling like I wasn’t the only person going through life’s day to day trials. While other rappers may belittle you with “how nice they ice” (c) Lonnie Lynn, they always made listeners feel like a person after listening to the music.

A big thank you to Little Brother and good luck in future endeavors!

  1. That shows was so good!
Do you happen to know the name of the song/artist that they played between sets that had a hook that went something like “…all the sophisticated suckers catch a heart attack. I rep carolina where my heart is at. Now I'm checking where your heart is at”?
